Female teachers have been encouraged to pursue continuous professional development while maintaining a healthy balance between their teaching careers, family responsibilities and personal well-being.
The advice was given by the Talensi District Director of Education, Christiana Azure Ayinzoya, during a forum organised by the GNAT Ladies Society (GNATLAS) at the GNAT Hall in the Upper East Region on Thursday, June 25, 2026. The event was held under the theme, “Balancing Teaching, Family and Personal Growth.”
Addressing participants, Ms. Ayinzoya said female teachers play multiple roles in society, serving as educators in the classroom, caregivers at home and individuals who must also invest in their own personal and professional growth.
“Do not stop learning because you are married or already have a job. Continue to further your education and acquire more knowledge to improve yourself and your career,” she said.
She also urged teachers to prioritise their health and well-being.
“Teaching is a calling, but do not let it consume you. Rest when you are tired and do not feel that you must always push yourself beyond your limits,” she added.
The Regional GNATLAS Coordinator, Linda Agyeere, said the forum was organised to motivate, encourage and empower female teachers to excel both professionally and personally.
She noted that teachers continue to face several challenges, including student indiscipline, delays in promotions, poor conditions of service, inadequate teaching and learning materials, and the lack of accommodation for teachers posted to rural communities.
“We appeal to the Ghana Education Service and the government to address these challenges so teachers can work in a conducive environment and deliver quality education,” she said.
The forum highlighted the importance of empowering female teachers to achieve a healthy work-life balance while also advocating improved welfare and better working conditions within the teaching profession.
Participants ended the event with a renewed commitment to lifelong learning, self-care and their role in shaping future generations through education.
