CAN 2017: Gabon, Guinea Bissau out, Burkina, Cameroon through to Quarter Finals

Host of this year’s African Cup of Nations, Gabon, have been booted out of the tournament after failing to win a single game at the continental showpiece.

Gabon was paired with Cameroon, Guinea-Bissau and Burkina Faso in a keenly contested Group A.

Although the Gabon team with experienced legs like Aubemayang was expected to travel far, the team drew in all her three games in the Group Stage and therefore could not advance to the next stage of the tournament.

Other group counterparts that could not make it to the Quarter-Finals was debutants, Guinea-Bissau which also failed to win a single game in the Group stages.

Gabon and debutants Guinea Bissau join Uganda that is already out of the tournament after losing to Egypt yesterday in their second group game.

Burkina Faso and Cameroon joins Ghana and Senegal as countries that have already qualified for the Quarter Finals after they became first and second respectively in Group A.
