Former Bolgatanga East Constituency Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Evelyn Abingde, has filed her nomination to contest the position of Upper East Regional Women’s Organiser in the party’s upcoming regional executive elections.
Speaking after submitting her nomination forms, Madam Abingde thanked party members for their support and acknowledged the efforts of NPP members and parliamentary candidates during previous elections.
She said although the party worked hard, it was unable to secure victory in the Upper East Region, but expressed confidence that stronger grassroots mobilisation could help reposition the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“We did our best as a party, but we could not win. I appreciate every member who sacrificed time and resources for the party, and I believe we can come back stronger,” she said.
Madam Abingde said, if elected, she would embark on an extensive campaign across the region to mobilise women, young people and families to strengthen the party’s base.
She said rebuilding the NPP requires unity, inclusion and stronger participation from women at all levels of the party.
“What a man can do, a woman can do even better. I will focus on equipping and empowering women to become active participants in building a stronger NPP,” she said.
The aspiring regional Women’s Organiser pledged to promote unity among women in the party and work with stakeholders to increase support for the NPP’s parliamentary and presidential candidates ahead of the 2028 elections.
She appealed to delegates for their support, promising to provide inclusive leadership and use her experience to strengthen the party’s Women’s Wing across the Upper East Region.
