Upper East Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Peter Ayinbisa, has urged delegates to prioritise experience over experimentation as they prepare to elect the party’s next regional communications director.
Speaking on A1 Radio, monitored by Bolga FM, the incumbent, who is seeking re-election, said the communications wing requires experienced leadership as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
“Experience is more important because you can’t throw away the baby with the bath water. We have come this far because of the things we have done before,” he said.
Mr. Ayinbisa said that while many party members have spoken on behalf of the NPP, leading the regional communications directorate requires a different level of responsibility and experience.
He said his campaign is not intended to discredit his opponents but to demonstrate the value of his years of service.
“I’m not the type who would sit here and run somebody down because we are contesting ourselves. All of us are good. We all have the pedigree to lead the communications wing, but people should be counting on experience,” he said.
Mr. Ayinbisa cited his eight years as Bongo Constituency Chairman, four years as a district executive and his current tenure as Regional Communications Director as evidence of his readiness to continue leading the party’s communications team.
He also recalled losing the 2022 contest for Regional Organiser by 28 votes, describing the experience as part of his leadership journey and preparation for the current race.
Mr. Ayinbisa said the NPP should focus on strengthening its communications strategy rather than testing new leadership ahead of the 2028 elections.
“It’s not time to test. It’s not time to begin to say, ‘Give me the opportunity so I also try.’ Election 2028 is going to be a different ballgame, and experience is going to count a lot,” he said.
Mr. Ayinbisa is contesting the position against Johnson Ayine and Dr. Samuel Akongo.
