The Upper East Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has announced MyTurn Constructions Limited and Lesken Enterprise Limited as headline sponsors of the 5th Upper East Regional GJA Awards.
Kacstones Records and Paga Youth Movement have also been named main sponsors of the awards, scheduled for October 2, 2026.
The sponsorship arrangements were announced during the official launch of the awards in Bolgatanga.
Upper East Regional Chairman of the GJA, Albert Sore, expressed appreciation to the four organisations for supporting the awards and journalism in the region.
According to him, partnerships with businesses and other institutions are important to sustaining the regional awards and encouraging journalists to produce reporting that contributes to development.
“Supporting the awards demonstrates that an institution or business values credible journalism, transparency and the development of the region. The benefits are simply enormous,” he said.
Mr. Sore said private sector support for journalism can contribute to promoting transparency and encourage journalists to go beyond routine reporting to examine issues affecting communities.
MyTurn Constructions Limited and Lesken Enterprise Limited have been announced as the headline sponsors, while Kacstones Records, a Northern Ghana-based creative arts, talent development and event logistics company, and Paga Youth Movement, a youth advocacy group in the Upper East Region, are supporting the event as main sponsors.
This year’s awards will be held under the theme, “Beyond the Headlines: The Media’s Role in Promoting WASH for Safe Motherhood and Quality Healthcare,” complementing WaterAid Ghana’s “Time to Deliver” campaign.
The awards are expected to recognise journalists whose work has contributed to accountability, good governance and improved healthcare delivery in the Upper East Region.
