The Happy Man Foundation has provided GH¢18,000 to Women in Broadcast, Upper East Region, to purchase educational materials for vulnerable schoolchildren ahead of the new academic year.
The money will finance the purchase of exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners for children in deprived and hard-to-reach communities across the region.
The contribution forms part of GH¢38,000 secured by Women in Broadcast for this year’s educational support initiative. Friends of Prosper has also committed GH¢20,000 towards the purchase of school shoes and an additional 100 school bags.
The latest support builds on previous educational interventions undertaken by the Happy Man Foundation in the Upper East Region.
In 2025, the Foundation donated 1,000 mathematical sets to 19 Junior High Schools across the region to support candidates preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination.
President of Women in Broadcast, Upper East Region, Humul Khrusum Tahiru, said the group approached individuals and organisations for support after identifying additional needs among children during its previous outreach.
Last year, Women in Broadcast distributed more than 3,000 exercise books and pens across five districts in the Upper East Region.
“Last year during our donation exercise, we identified a number of children that came to school without shoes or even good shoes and school bags,” Ms. Tahiru said.
She said the experience prompted the group to expand this year’s intervention beyond books and stationery to include footwear and school bags.
Ms. Tahiru expressed appreciation to the Happy Man Foundation and Friends of Prosper and assured them that the resources would be used for their intended purposes.
The beneficiary districts and schools are expected to be announced as preparations for the distribution are completed.
Women in Broadcast said it would also provide updates through traditional and social media on the distribution of the educational materials and how the support is used.
