Kumasi Asante KotokoKumasi Asante Kotoko will lock horns with their regional rivals Ashanti Gold at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday – a game set aside by the Premier League Board (PLB) to present the 2012-2013 league trophy to the Reds.

Prior to the final Premier League games, most soccer enthusiasts predicted a play-off between Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea for the reason been that, both clubs were tied on 50 points, and per the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) regulations, play-off(s) shall be used to draw a line between clubs baring any tie.

Nonetheless, the resoluteness and experience of the Reds ensured that they settled the score on the last day-beating debutants Amidaus Professionals 1-0 whilst their competitors unfortunately surrendered at Kpando to Lions.

The win pushed the Porcupine Warriors to the top of the league log with Berekum Chelsea languishing behind them with three point difference, thus, making it the twenty-second time they have won the major championship.

In addition, they will represent the country in next seasons Caf Champions League, making it the second successive time they are doing so after a dramatic set-back in their previous appearance.

The match will kick-off at 14:30 GMT due to the Ghana U-20 team’s crucial quarter final encounter with South American side, Chile at the World Cup later that day.
