Former Bongo District Chief Executive, Alexis Adugdaa Ayamdor, has declared his intention to contest the position of Upper East Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a statement dated September 21, 2026, Mr Ayamdor said his decision followed consultations and reflection on how he could contribute to strengthening the party and its structures across the region.
He said his campaign would focus on strengthening party structures, improving communication and coordination, deepening grassroots mobilisation and promoting unity and discipline within the NDC.
Mr Ayamdor also pledged to increase the participation of women and young people in the party, strengthen election preparedness and promote accountability and effective administration across party structures.
Mr Ayamdor brings more than two decades of professional experience spanning local governance, education, international development, project management and community mobilisation.
He previously served as District Chief Executive for Bongo and held positions with USAID, Catholic Relief Services and other development organisations. He currently works at Bolgatanga Technical University as Assistant Industrial Liaison Officer and Sectional Head of the Job Placement Centre.
Within the NDC and local governance, Mr Ayamdor said he has served as a Branch Secretary, Constituency Campaign Team Member, Unit Committee Member, Assembly Member and Presiding Member.
He also served on the Bongo Constituency Fundraising Committee for the 2024 elections and currently serves as Secretary to the Bongo Constituency Council of Elders, according to his statement.
Mr Ayamdor said he was prepared to work with executives at all levels of the party, elected representatives, former leaders, women, youth and the wider membership to strengthen the NDC in the region.
He appealed to party members for their support as he seeks the position.
His campaign is anchored on four themes: unity, discipline, innovation and grassroots mobilisation.
