VIVA & CO Ghana Limited has introduced its VIVA Fiberglass Bar to construction professionals in the Upper East Region, promoting the product as an alternative to conventional steel reinforcement bars.

The product was unveiled at a training workshop held at the Tap Hotel in Bolgatanga on October 24, 2026, bringing together engineers, masons, steel benders, contractors and other construction industry professionals.

The workshop sought to educate participants on the properties, applications and potential benefits of fiberglass reinforcement bars in construction.

Speaking at the event, Director of VIVA Fiberglass Bar, Ivan Romanov, said the product had been available in Ghana since 2017, with much of its use concentrated in the Greater Accra Region.

According to him, the fiberglass bars had been used in major construction projects under the supervision of structural engineers, providing the company with practical experience in their application.

“We have had VIVA Fiberglass Bar in Ghana since 2017, and it has been used in major projects under the supervision of structural engineers. The experience gained from these projects has helped build knowledge and confidence in the product,” he said.

Mr Romanov disclosed that the product had been used in approximately 10,000 construction projects across Ghana and other African countries, including parts of East and West Africa.

He explained that the company’s decision to organise the workshop in Bolgatanga formed part of efforts to expand awareness of fiberglass reinforcement technology and make the product accessible to construction professionals beyond Accra.

Mr Romanov also announced the appointment of an engineer and building designer, identified as Mr Amoah, as the company’s agent to facilitate access to the product in Ghana.

“We now have an agent, Mr Amoah, who is also an engineer and building designer. VIVA Fiberglass Bar is available in large quantities for sale, and we are encouraging the general public and construction professionals to learn more about it and consider its application in their projects,” he stated.

Highlighting the product’s engineering properties, Mr Romanov said fiberglass reinforcement bars should not be assessed solely by their weight when compared with conventional steel bars.

“With VIVA Fiberglass Bar, strength is not weight,” he emphasised.

He explained that fiberglass reinforcement technology had been in use for years, with advances in production methods contributing to improvements in the material’s development and application.

According to him, understanding the technical properties of fiberglass reinforcement bars is essential to determining their suitability for different construction projects.

The workshop also provided an opportunity for participants to learn about the product’s possible applications and engage with the company on its use in building and other construction works.

VIVA & CO Ghana Limited hopes the introduction of the product in Bolgatanga will encourage construction professionals in the Upper East Region to explore alternative reinforcement materials.

However, the suitability of fiberglass reinforcement bars for particular projects depends on their technical specifications, applicable construction standards and assessment by qualified structural engineers.

The Bolgatanga workshop forms part of the company’s broader efforts to promote fiberglass reinforcement technology and expand its market across Ghana.
