Spokesperson of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Saani Daara has said the Football Association will meet in the coming days to decide the fate of the Black Stars coach, Avram Grant.

“Hopefully, by the end of this week, the FA will take a decision on the fate of Coach Avram Grant.”

According to him, the Association is disappointed with the performance of the Stars at the just ended AFCON in Gabon and will meet to on a yet-to-be-decided date to analyse the team’s performance until a decision is reached on the future of the coach.

Although there are several calls to the Ghana Football Association from Ghanaians to sack the coach, the spokesperson indicated that “his contract ends at the end of the month so we will look at the spirit of his contract rather than the sentiments of Ghanaians because we will want to avoid being fined by FIFA”.

He noted that the black stars are in top shape but a section of the media continuously use the Brazil fiasco to paint the team black which is not good for the team.

“The team’s performance now is not too different from what has happened over the past ten, twelve years. The ramifications and trickling effect of what happened in Brazil is what some section of the media are still using to portray the team, the players as such,” he told A1 Radio’s, Azongo Albert.

He noted that gradually, the Black Stars will win the hearts of Ghanaians adding that the seeming despondency is understandable because football deals with emotions which have been toiled with in times past.
