Sports Minister-designate, Hon. Isaac Asiamah has revealed that the country has no college for sports education; a reason why most sportsmen take up other careers after Senior High School education.

According to him, the Winneba Sports College which is the only sports college in the country is not accredited and therefore does not qualify to run programs and courses in sports.

” I want to put it on record that the Winneba Sports college is just a training center and it is not accredited to run courses in sports so that is why sportsmen and women do not take up higher education in sports.”

Isaac Asiamah who was taking his turn when he faced Parliament’s Appointment Committee indicated that under his tenure, he and his government intends to build three Sports Colleges to encourage students to take up higher education in sports.

He, however, could not give timelines as to when these colleges will be ready but mentioned that “we have a four-year term to deliver on our mandate, so we will spread it throughout our four-year term”.
