After weeks of scheduling and rescheduling, the much awaited 2016/2017 Ghana Premier league will kickstart today at all the league centers.

Various teams are poised for action as the season sets off and will want to take their chances as they move to either win the league or maintain their stay in the league which has been tagged as controversial by many.

In Kumasi, a ‘new’ Kotoko will welcome the scientific soccer lads of Dansoman, Liberty Professionals. Asante Kotoko with its new signings will want to continue their winning ways from their Pre-season games although their coach, Zdravko Lugarusic had earlier indicated that the team will not be ready enough for the start of the league. However, Liberty Professional has also vowed to cause an upset at the backyard of the Porcupine warriors.

The continental club masters who yesterday unveiled their new signings at a Goil fuel station will also visit Inter Allies. Last season under Kenechi Heart of Oak broke hearts in Tema but will that happen this time around? The team will depend on new signing Bright Lukman to continue his coring ways like he did last season for Dwarfs. Inter Allies are however, hoping to start their campaign with a win.

Wa All Stars will start their title defence against new entrants Elmina Sharks. Although defending the title will be a difficult thing to do, Wa All Stars are hoping to capitalize on the experience they had during the Pre-season and having played for some time in the league. Elmina Sharks have also hinted they are in the league to stay and have made some strategic signings and are ready to cause an upset at the backyard of Wa All Stars.

New entrants, Tema Youth will play their debut game against Brekum Chelsea whiles Olympic takes on Bechem United in Accra.
At the Nana Agyemang sports stadium Aduana Stars who are always resolute at home will take on well branded Ashantigold side in their opening game. Both teams are expected to give of their best.

In Cape Coast, Dwarfs will play host to debutants, Bolga All Stars. With Brazillian tactician, Ricardo Da Rocha at the helm of affairs, the Cape Coast based team is set to test the credentials of the first team to qualify for the Ghana Premier league from the Upper East Region. Bolga All Stars have said they are coming in the league as underdogs but will cause upsets to various big sides with signings like Samuel Norgbey, Emmanuel Acquah, Wahid Issahaku and Maxwell Frimpong who have Premier league experience.
