Four female students sustained several degrees of injuries whiles five other female students fainted when a leaking gas cylinder exploded at the girls hostel of the Zorkor Senior High School, Bolgatanga-based Tanga radio reports.
The disaster which has left students living in fear occurred on Monday evening, a day after fire gutted the residence of Police in Navrongo which led to a three-months-old baby losing her life.
Narrating the incident to Tanga Radio news, an eyewitness of the disaster said “they had closed from school and one of the girls went to start preparing her supper. However, she was not aware that the gas cylinder was leaking so when she put the gas on, it exploded and burnt four girls who sustained severe injuries. Five girls also fainted as a result of the disaster“.
He added that the casualties of the explosion have since been sent to the hospital in Bolgatanga and are battling for their lives.
Zorkor Senior High School is a Day School in the Bongo District.
