Gov’t should come clear with mechanisms to disband vigilante groups – Dominic Ayine

The former Deputy Attorney General and Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency, Dr. Dominic Ayine has called on Government to come out with a mechanism to disband the activities political party vigilante groups.

Dr. Ayine’s call comes on the back of a raid of a court in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi by a Pro-NPP group called Delta force to free its members who had been arraigned before the court.

“It is really sad and shocking that we can have a group that is affiliated with the ruling government to conduct themselves in this manner, I think as a lawmaker the best thing I can say is that the ruling government must come out to condemn in no uncertain terms the act of these vandals who engaged in criminal activities against the court.”

Dr. Ayine mentioned that members of the Pro-NPP group, Delta Force who engaged in the regrettable act should be arraigned before the law court and must be treated as common criminals for vandalizing state properties and facilitating for the escape of some of their members as well attacking the court.

The Bolgatanga East Member of Parliament was shocked at the stance of the Minister for National Security about the existence of these Vigilante groups saying “should a group be licensed before a government can look into their illegal act in the country?”

He called for stringent measures to be put in place to help fight the activities of these groups which hampers the development of the country.
