The Paramount Chief of Nangode Traditional Area, Naab Joseph Asaga has underscored the need for the people of the Nangode traditional area and the Nabdam district, in general, to desist from the consumption of “akpeteshie”.

According to him, the consumption of alcohol has been a worry for the people of the Nabdam traditional area and there is the need to concentrate on hard work and desist from consuming alcohol.

“I urge the people of Nabdam to work very hard to ensure that they become very productive. Please reduce the intake of akpeteshie, reduce the intake of akpeteshi. It is an evil thing and a demonic thing and it is a wicked thing.”

He made this call during the final durbar of this year’s Goug Festival which is marked to celebrate the hunting season and to expose the bravery of the men in the Nangode Traditional area.

Naab Joseph Asaga noted that the people of Nabdam spend several days and resources during funerals at the detriment of the education of their wards and therefore called on chiefs present to start a discussion on reducing the number of days and resources pumped into funerals.

“We need to trigger a discussion on the number of days and resources that are invested into funerals in Nabdam. We take a great number of days and invest a lot of money into our funerals. The school fee is important and there is the need to save monies for the welfare of our wards. We are lucky Nana has come to save us with the Free SHS policy but Nana cannot provide you with books and other things to make your child an A student so you need to save to provide those things.”
