The Upper East regional Minister, Hon. Rockson Bukari has expressed worry over the level of indiscipline in the Upper East region.

“I am worried about the level of indiscipline in the region currently. People have taken the laws into their own hands and are doing whatever pleases them. Just some few days ago, some armed robbers went to rob a bank in Binaba in broad daylight and that is very worrying, today people are stealing motors and people are been attacked at gun points,” the minister worried minister told the Paramount chief of the Talensi traditional area.

He noted that the spinning of sound systems during funerals have become the order of the day and people take advantage and engage in noise pollution at the detriment of other people in the region which should not be the case.

He called on chiefs and elders of the Talensi traditional area to institute measures to help arrest the indiscipline that has characterized the various communities and ensure that the region goes back to the days when respect for alders was paramount.

On his part, Tongrana Kubilsong Nalebtang mentioned that he and his chiefs have placed a ban on spinning of sound systems at funerals in their traditional area and there is a task force that ensures that every individual or family adheres to the ban.

He indicated that he has given a directive that the various traditional songs and dance style should be used during funerals to ensure that the younger generation can also learn and be abreast with their traditions.

He gave an assurance of helping to instill discipline in the youth in his traditional area.
