The reviewing Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police, COP, Rose Bio-Atinga, has said the dwindling budgetary allocation to the service was negatively affecting effective policing.

Speaking at a passing out parade of 597 police recruits at the Pwalugu Police Public Safety Training School in the Upper East Region, COP Bio-Atinga said new suburbs were springing up across the country which required the sitting of police stations in such areas.

She, therefore, called on the government to resource the service to enable it carry out its constitutional mandate of maintain law and order.

She cautioned the recruit constables not compromise on professional standards or risk facing severe sanctions.

Mr. Rockson Ayine Bukari, The Upper East Regional Minister, advised the recruit constables to uphold professional standards to help arrest the rising rate of crime in the country.

The recruit constables had undergone a six-month training and were taught subjects like Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Law of Evidence, Criminal Investigation, Practical Police Duties, Human Rights, Weapons Handling and Physical Training.

Outstanding recruit constables were given awards.
