Founder and Managing News Editor of TopNews Ghana, an online news portal, William Nlanjerbor Jalulah has rejoined Bolgatanga-based A1 Radio as the Managing News Editor after parting ways with the company five years ago.
The veteran journalist, who is noted for his probing questions when handling a programme on air, was a core member of a six-member team that started A1 Radio when it was established in 2009. He was the architect and host of DayBreak Upper East, the station’s flagshift programme and also doubled as the News Editor/anchor. He later became Head of Programmes and subsequently the General Manager.
He rejoins A1 Radio at a time the company is restructuring its programmes in order to provide listeners with the best of services – information, education and entertainment.
With Diploma in Journalism from School of Professional Studies, Accra, and Bachelor of Arts in Management and Sociology (combined major), University of Ghana, Legon, Mr. Jalulah brings in his wealth of experience having practiced Journalism in the Upper East Region for the past eleven years.
Speaking in an interview with a1radioonline.com, he indicated his commitment to help in the development of the Upper East Region and the country at large through the provision of engaging news content on radio.
“Journalism is a great tool to help in the development of the country and the Upper East Region. A1 Radio is known for the production of topnotch content and that is what we are promising our listeners. We have designed news content that will help shape the understanding of people on various developmental issues affecting the region and the country in general,” he said.
He was grateful to the management of A1 Radio for the opportunity for him to serve the society and asked his colleagues in the newsroom to give me maximum cooperation, show commitment and professionalism in line of their duty as these remain the hallmark of journalism.
The General Manager of A1 Radio, Justin Kolog, who introduced the incoming Managing News Editor to the company’s newsroom staffers on Thursday July 27, expressed optimism the team will succeed. He, however, charged them to tap into the rich experience of their new head in order that A1 Radio will continue soaring.
As part of the restructuring process, A1 Radio has introduced several news programmes which are geared towards informing and engaging listeners.
The programmes include ‘7:06’ (A1 Breakfast News) and the News at 2:00pm – all on weekdays.
This programme, according to the Managing News Editor, is expected to cover news breaking in the Upper East region. The news segment will inform listeners on happenings from the previous day and will set the agenda for the day.
The 2:00pm is a thirty-minute news analysis programme which updates listeners on the trending news stories across the region and country
