Although world history has considered the popular Ugandan military officer Iddi Amin Dada Oumee as one of the most brutal despots in Africa, many young Africans today see him as one of best African leaders in history.

The military officer served as president of Uganda from 1971 to 1979 and was popularly known as the “Butcher of Uganda.”

A picture of the former Ugandan President surfaced on Facebook recently and people from all walks of life, especially young Africans who saw it, commented that they were deceived with videos and audios about his cruelty, but now they see him as great hero.

Imrana Iddrisu, from Ghana in his comment, said despite the former President’s numerous flaws notably the Entebbe disaster, the former Ugandan President was and will still be a hero in many ways in Africa and to the world.

“May Allah grant him Jannah”. Mr. Iddrisu added.

Abraham Mushivi from Uganda said he has followed most of the former President’s videos and written books and all that he said and did were for the betterment of Africa, therefore Africa needs to fight for its independence again.

“We still ask for support and at sometimes we are told of what to do by other continents. All our development programmes are influenced by outsiders. Our governance is also controlled by outsiders. We need to stand on our feet, yet accepting win-win development progresses.” Mr. Mushivi commented on facebook.

Senkumbi Anthony, from Kampala – Uganda, explained in his comment that the former President was Uganda’s greatest Hero of all time.

“We can’t forget him as Ugandans. He empowered Ugandans to start businesses after the expulsion of Asians from Uganda and most of the successful businesses in Uganda today started during that time. The country’s infrastructure is solid because of him and he was not corrupt like other African leaders. He didn’t leave any debt for Uganda like most African leaders who have mortgaged their countries to China through debt’s adding to the continent poverty.” He said.

David Davla Seme, from Sudan in his comment said former President Iddi Amin was hero and should be the type of president Africa needs today, because he did not behave like today’s presidents who will put their interest first.

“I admire you, the soldier of Africans King rifles!” He added.

Despite the fact that the original birth place of President Iddi Amin was and still in doubt, many Ugandans still say that he was born in Koboko, while others also say Kampala, the capital town of Uganda. But regardless of his birth place, he was and will still be counted amongst the greatest heroes in Africa.
