Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Navrongo Central Constituency, Tangoba Abayage, has committed her bid to go to parliament into God’s hands; stating that she has fought the campaign with all her heart.

With less than a day to the elections, Madam Tangoba, who doubles as the current Upper East Regional Minister, in a post on her Facebook timeline, wrote to indicate an official end to her campaign activities leading to this year’s polls.

“I’ve fought a good fight with all my heart! God has been my strength and might! The rest I leave to God Almighty! # GodDeyWeDey.” She wrote.

In tomorrow’s election, over 50,000 electorate in the Navrongo Central Constituency will consider and elect one person to represent them as Member of Parliament (MP) for the next four years.

Three candidates namely Tangoba Abayage of the NPP, Sampson Tangombu Chiragia of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Susana Agoriba Kubirizegah of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) will compete for the constituency seat that had over the years witnessed swing voting patterns between the NDC and the NPP.

Both the NPP and the NDC have been dominant in occupying the seat and therefore the contest, according to political watchers is a two-horse race between the two political parties.

Both candidates, in addition to their political experiences have solid academic and professional backgrounds.

Ahead of the elections, opinion polls which some described as controversial have tipped Madam Tangoba as the winner; having defeated the incumbent MP, Joseph Kofi Adda, in the NPP primaries.

If she wins the contest, Madam Tangoba, a gender activist, will make history in the constituency as the first female to be elected to parliament from the NPP.

Meanwhile, NDC’s Mr. Chiragia a tax auditor, is counting on his strength as a grass-roots man.
