Private Legal Practitioner John Ndebugri has added his voice to the ongoing debate about the status of the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy. Mr. Ndebugri explained that the 2022 Budget has been constitutionally rejected and called on the public to disregard claims that it has not. He explained that for persons who claim the budget has not been rejected, they are allowed to petition the Supreme Court for clarity into the matter.
He was speaking to Samuel Mbura on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East. He suggested that the claims that the budget has not been rejected amounts to the arrogance of power.
“The budget has been rejected and anybody who says that the budget has not been rejected based on constitutional issues and so on has to go to the Supreme Court for the Supreme Court to declare that the budget has not been rejected. It is not for anybody just to sit on television and say that what happened has no effect on anybody. That kind of arrogance in those days of coup [de’etats] would have solicited an immediate coup,” he explained.
Mr. Ndebugri praised the Speaker’s handling of the issue saying he [the Speaker] was meticulous. “The Speaker was very meticulous in the way he proceeded. If anyone sits on television it has no effect, he is deceiving himself,” he explained.
