Journalists and media practitioners in the Upper East Region have deposited a cash amount of Ghc 3000 to support the establishment of a haemodialysis center at the Upper East Regional Hospital, Bolgatanga.
The contribution was led by the regional leadership of the Ghana Journalists Association who marshalled support from its members and non-members who work in the media space in the Upper East Region.
The campaign to raise funds for a dialysis centre to be established in Bolgatanga has triggered donations and pledges from groups, individuals and businesses entities in the region.
Hospital authorities have disclosed that the unavailability of the facility is making the management and treatment of kidney diseases difficult. Patients with acute kidney diseases who could have their conditions reversed through dialysis are unable to access the services in the region. They are often referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital and other tertiary facilities in other parts of the country.
It has also emerged that the cost of travelling and cost of accessing the services has compelled most patients to skip or completely avoiding the recovery process, thereby leading to a deterioration of their conditions and deaths.
Management of the hospital has announced the setting up of an account desk at the hospital to collect contributions alongside a bank account and mobile money account for individuals and entities that wish to contribute to the project.
The account numbers are as follows:
Bank: NIB
Account number: 1103040189101
Account name: BOLGATANGA HOSPITAL POOLED DONOR FUND.
MTN Momo: 961450 (Merchant)
Name: Bolga Regional Hospital.
