Director of Born-Brain Academy and Coordinator for the Ghana Private Schools Association (Bolga-East) football team, James Akeliyane, has noted that the team’s thorough preparation and resolve were crucial to their victory in the 2024 A1 Radio/Happy Man Bitters Invitational Tournament.
The team, which started their first match 8 players, showcased exceptional teamwork and perseverance throughout the event.
The team beat the Ghana Police Service in the final match on penalties [4-3] to pick the trophy.
Mr. Akeliyane underscored the significance of building a strong foundation, which he believes will lead to even greater success in future tournaments. “Now we have gained some experience, and this is a record. This will motivate us,” he said.
“Now that we have laid the foundation, next year is going to be even easier.”
Mr. Akeliyane also addressed the performance of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) team, expressing his disappointment with their approach. He remarked that the team underestimated their opponents, which was surprising given their prior friendly match, in which UCC had scored against the Bolga-East team.
“UCC did well, but I was disappointed. They thought they were facing a weak opponent and were too relaxed. I expected we would meet them in the final because, in the friendly match, they scored against us.”
