A youth group, Friends of Prosper, has come to the aid of a brilliant but needy student from the Sherigu community in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region by paying her admission fees.

The beneficiary, Nyaaba Juliana, who recently gained admission to the Navrongo Community Nursing Training School, was struggling to raise funds for her admission until the group intervened. Her family, led by her mother and grandfather, had made several unsuccessful attempts to secure financial support before the gesture.

Speaking to the media after presenting the undisclosed cash amount, a member of the group, David Akolbila, explained that their intervention goes beyond paying the initial admission fees.

“This is not the end. Anything concerning her education, Friends of Prosper are always ready to come to her aid. Even if we can’t, we know other people who can support, and we will always be there for her,” Mr. Akolbila said.

Juliana expressed her gratitude for the timely support.

“I want to thank Friends of Prosper for this support. I will never forget it. My parents were struggling to raise money for my admission fees, but thankfully, they came in to support me. I am grateful,” she said.

The group, made up of young men and women from the Bolgatanga Central Constituency and beyond, is championing an advocacy for Prosper Ayinbilla Awuni, a native of Tindonmolgo and a young economist working with the Ministry of Finance, to consider contesting the Bolgatanga parliamentary primaries of the NDC when the time comes.

The group says Prosper has demonstrated a strong commitment to philanthropy, supporting education, providing boreholes, and helping many individuals within and outside Bolgatanga.

Mr. Akolbila, who is also a brother of Prosper, said the group’s aim is to touch lives across the municipality in the spirit of Prosper’s example of giving.

Aside from supporting Juliana, Friends of Prosper also donated two footballs to the youth of Kembisi in the Sherigu community. Receiving the donation, Atanga Oliver thanked the group and appealed for jerseys to aid the development of their football talents.
