The President of the Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM), Durigem Aborah Wenawome, has called for unity and collective effort among residents of the Upper East Region to drive sustainable development.
According to him, the lack of collaboration and shared purpose among the people has contributed to the region’s slow pace of growth.
Speaking during a GH¢10,000 donation jointly made by the Paga Youth Movement and Kacstone Records to the Passport Center in Bolgatanga, Mr. Aborah emphasized the importance of togetherness, shared reasoning, and community-driven initiatives in promoting regional advancement.
“Sometimes, it is not only about money. Togetherness, having common reasoning, and sharing ideas are very key. Unfortunately, this is what we lack as a region. We talk about unity within our small groups, but it never goes beyond that,” he said. “This is a great opportunity for us to come together and champion development because we have become too relaxed and allowed our leaders to take advantage of us.”
Mr. Aborah expressed concern that many elected leaders in the region fail to prioritize the needs of the people. He emphasized that citizens must take charge of their development agenda by holding leaders accountable and setting a clear direction for progress.
He also condemned ethnic divisions that weaken the region’s unity, urging residents to look beyond tribal affiliations. “If I say I’m a Kassena and everything that concerns the Frafra people doesn’t concern me, we will never progress. We must stand together and fight for the collective good,” he stated.
Receiving the donation, the leader of the Alagumbge Association, Mr. Gabriel Agamblia, expressed gratitude for the gesture and commended Mr. Aborah’s message. He assured the Paga Youth Movement of the association’s readiness to collaborate on initiatives aimed at fostering unity and development across the Upper East Region.
