The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for Bolgatanga Central, Elvis Figo Atia Awonekai, has denied claims made by former Food and Agriculture Minister Dr. Bryan Acheampong that he distributed fertilizer to parliamentary candidates across the country.
In a statement issued 9 hours ago on this Facebook page, Mr. Awonekai said he had “at no point” received any fertilizer or other logistics from Dr. Acheampong or his representatives. His response follows a viral video in which Dr. Acheampong, who is also a candidate in the NPP’s 2026 presidential primaries, claimed to have supplied fertilizer to parliamentary candidates in several constituencies, referencing the Upper West Region and suggesting that data existed to verify the distributions.
“I recently watched a video where Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong boldly claimed that he dispatched fertilizer to various constituencies, which he says was received by the 2024 parliamentary candidates,” Mr. Awonekai said. “I respectfully and unequivocally state that at no point did I receive any fertilizer or any other logistics from Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong or his representatives.”
The Bolgatanga Central candidate emphasized that his “integrity is non-negotiable” and that he felt compelled to issue the clarification to protect his reputation.
