In a bold move aligning with national environmental goals, Charger Limited has launched a major incentive-based campaign across northern Ghana to combat plastic pollution. Dubbed the “Happy Man Bitters Collect, Drop & Win” initiative, the programme offers cash prizes totalling hundreds of thousands of cedis to motivate consumers to responsibly dispose of empty 50ml bitters sachets.

Spearheaded by the company’s CEO, Mr. Emmanuel Bortey Borketey, the campaign directly supports government sanitation efforts in the region. Running from December 2025 to March 2026, it aims to instil discipline in waste management while promoting a culture of environmental sustainability.

“We want to run this on a pilot basis as a sanitation-focused incentive programme designed to change attitudes toward plastic waste,” Dr. Borketey explained. He urged patrons to save their empty sachets, which can be exchanged for rewards at officially announced collection outlets.

Running from December 2025 to March 2026, the initiative encourages customers to return empty Happy Man Bitters 50ml sachets for a chance to win life-changing prizes. Mr. Borketey described the initiative as a sanitation-focused incentive programme designed to change attitudes toward plastic waste management.

“We want to run this on a pilot basis… Clients or direct consumers will return a set quantity of empty 50ml sachets after consuming Happy Man Bitters to claim a reward,” he stated, urging patrons to save their sachets until the official collection outlets are announced.

The prize structure is unprecedented for a regional sanitation campaign, headlined by a life-changing top prize of GHC 50,000. Further prizes include GHC 30,000 for second place, GHC 20,000 for third, and substantial cash awards for runners-up. The 11th to 20th place winners will receive consolation items like smartphones and household appliances.

Collection teams have been deployed across the Upper East, North East, Northern, Savannah, and Upper West Regions to ensure smooth operations and transparency.

Mr. Borketey, whose business interests span beverages, transport, and retail, stated the initiative reflects Charger Limited’s dual commitment to environmental stewardship and consumer appreciation.

The campaign’s monthly updates and the highly anticipated March 2026 grand finale are expected to attract thousands of participants, making it one of northern Ghana’s most engaging and impactful waste-management reward schemes.

Charger Limited calls on consumers to drink responsibly and support environmental cleanliness—one sachet at a time.
