The Queen Mother of Feo in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region, Pognaba Felicia Agamboka Nonyansonga-Kaisikom I, has organized a community clean-up exercise aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness and public responsibility.
The exercise, held in the Feo community, sought to raise awareness about environmental sanitation and encourage residents, particularly the youth, to take an active role in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
Speaking on the sidelines of the exercise in an interview with Bolga FM, Pognaba Agamboka said the initiative was intended to ensure that Feo is not labeled as one of the dirtiest communities in the district but rather stands out as a positive example.
She expressed satisfaction with the strong turnout and support from residents, commending the community for its spirit of unity and volunteerism.
The Queen Mother urged residents to avoid littering and indiscriminate dumping of plastic waste, emphasizing that environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility.
The clean-up exercise was complemented by several community activities, including a friendly football match with a neighboring community in Burkina Faso (Yelwongo), eating competitions, singing and dancing contests, and educational talks on drug abuse and early marriage.
The event was held under the theme, “Catch them young and they shall grow to become yours forever.”
According to Pognaba Agamboka, the initiative is focused on grooming children to grow into morally upright, hardworking, responsible, and accountable members of society.
She further called on residents to remain united and contribute to the holistic development of the Feo community and the Virtuous Girls Club, which she patronizes, describing Feo as a potential beacon for the next generation.
