A member of the New Patriotic Party’s Upper East Regional Communications Team, Johnson Ayine, is urging the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be honest with the people of the Upper East Region and accelerate development in the area, especially considering the party’s political dominance in the region.
“You see, you are now in power. Reduce the propaganda and be truthful to the people,” he said while speaking to Seidu Mutawakil on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show.
Mr. Ayine, who has expressed interest in contesting for the position of Upper East Regional Communications Director of the NPP for the first time, said the people of the region have allowed themselves to be misled.
“And I don’t know why. Upper East, why are you allowing yourself to be fooled like that? Sorry to say this,” he said.
He further claimed that the 15 Members of Parliament from the Upper East Region, all of whom belong to the NDC, have done little to support development in the area.
“They lie, and then they create another lie to cover the first one, and then another lie. So why? Why all this? Your MPs are not working. Yes, most of them are not working,” he said.
Touching on the Majority Leader, Mr. Ayine said the region is yet to see clear benefits from Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga holding that position.
“I don’t just celebrate appointments. I celebrate good work. Upper East, Mahama Ayariga is Majority Leader. What is the benefit of his position? What benefit is Upper East getting? Is he leveraging that position for the development of Upper East? What is he doing?”
