Renowned kologo musician Jacob Abangna Agongo has called on music fans and communities in the Upper East Region to rally behind local artists to promote the growth of the region’s music industry.
Speaking in an interview on Bolga FM’s Buuri Malema Sanga on March 23, 2026, Mr. Agongo urged his supporters to move beyond rivalry and extend support to other talented artists within the region.
He stressed the need for a collective approach to building the industry, encouraging what he described as a “paradigm shift” from competition to collaboration.
Mr. Agongo called on his fanbase, often referred to as “Jacob supporters,” to support not only his work but also that of emerging and established artists across the region.
He noted that the growth of the Upper East music industry depends on unity among musicians, as well as stronger support systems from fans, promoters, and media platforms such as bloggers.
“The industry can only grow if we support each other. We need a united front to push our music beyond the region,” he said.
The kologo artist also encouraged Ghanaians to embrace and promote local talent, drawing comparisons with other countries where citizens actively support their creative industries.
He further advocated for greater involvement of African creatives in continental initiatives such as the Borderless Africa Campaign, stressing the need to position African talent on the global stage.
Mr. Agongo emphasised that internal divisions among artists could hinder progress, adding that unity would strengthen their ability to demand structural reforms and increased government support.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between artists and industry players, including promoters and bloggers, urging stakeholders to view promotion as a necessary investment for achieving wider recognition.
