Kacstone Records, a Ghanaian music record label that manages veteran Afrosounds artiste Michael Adangba, has renovated the Navrongo Divisional Police Headquarters to improve the working environment of officers.
The renovation was undertaken as part of the record label’s contribution to community development and support for security institutions in the Upper East Region.
The Managing Director of Kacstone Records, Wenawome Duriyem Aborah, who spoke on behalf of the management of the record label, said the initiative was driven by the belief that the development of society was a shared responsibility.
He described the police as a strategic institution whose effectiveness was critical to peace, security and development.
“We live in the community, and we believe that the development of every society is a shared responsibility. Whatever little that we can also support to that effort, we are ever ready,” he said.
Mr. Aborah said citizens must cooperate and collaborate with the police to enable them to effectively protect lives and property.
He noted that providing officers with a conducive working environment could contribute to their effectiveness in carrying out their duties.
“They are the first people who need to be in a good condition and a good state of mind to be able to police for us. If their mind is in distress, they will not be in a good position to protect life and property,” he stated.
He also called for stronger collaboration between the police and communities, stressing that residents must feel safe and comfortable sharing information with security agencies.
Mr. Aborah further appealed to the Inspector-General of Police to deploy more personnel and provide additional logistics to Navrongo, Paga, Sandema and other border communities.
According to him, strengthening security presence in the border areas was important in view of security concerns in neighbouring countries.
The Navrongo Divisional Police Commander, ACP Daniel Anane Amoah, expressed gratitude to Kacstone Records, saying the company had exceeded the expectations of the police.
He explained that the police initially expected financial assistance, but Kacstone Records decided to take full responsibility for renovating the facility.
“Honestly, we needed support from them, and we thought they would support us financially. But at the end of the day, they took everything upon themselves and said they were going to renovate the building for us,” ACP Amoah said.
He said the headquarters was previously in a poor condition, with leakages and a damaged ceiling.
According to him, portions of the plywood ceiling had become rotten due to water leakage, but the renovation included repairs to the roof, replacement of damaged ceiling materials and improvements to the general appearance of the building.
“They went into the ceiling and mended the leakages. Now, I think we can see it for ourselves that everything is looking neat, and the building has been put into a different shape altogether,” he added.
ACP Amoah assured Kacstone Records that the police would maintain the renovated facility and put it to good use.
The Navrongo Divisional Police Headquarters oversees four district commands—Navrongo, Paga, Sandema and Fumbisi—with several police stations operating under the respective districts.
Kacstone Records’ intervention is expected to improve the working environment at the divisional headquarters as the police continue their efforts to maintain security across the areas under the division.
