The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has urged beneficiaries of grinding mills he is distributing across the constituency to manage the facilities responsibly.
He made the appeal during the handover of a grinding mill to the Tindonmolgo community as part of ongoing commissioning and inspection of development projects. The initiative is aimed at reducing the burden on women and improving local livelihoods.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Adongo encouraged the community to take full responsibility for the maintenance and sustainability of the facility.
“Please I want you to pay attention to this. Everything is set. You have your operator and can start grinding here without moving all the way to the market to do so,” he said.
He stressed that the facility now belongs to the community and will no longer be under his direct control.
“But I just want you to know that this is now yours. I don’t have a hand in it again. You have to take good care of it so that it can last longer for your own benefit,” he stated.
Mr. Adongo cautioned beneficiaries against returning to him for repairs or operational costs after the handover.
“If you don’t manage it well as a community and come calling me after I have handed it over to you to fix a problem or buy electricity for you, no, I would not come. It is your property. Put all systems in place to ensure it lasts for all of us, especially my mothers and sisters here,” he said.
The grinding mills form part of his broader effort to support women traders and small-scale processors in Bolgatanga Central by reducing transportation costs and improving access to essential services.
