The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, during the commissioning and inspection of projects in the constituency, has revealed that he has procured a state-of-the-art, fully fitted ambulance to address emergency medical transport challenges.
The MP said the constituency has long struggled to evacuate patients to medical facilities within and outside the region during emergencies.
“The challenge we have been facing is to evacuate people to attend medical facilities outside this region on medical emergency grounds, and in some instances it has been difficult to source ambulances to take care of them,” he stated.
He explained that delays in accessing ambulances have forced families to wait for hours, with some vehicles arriving late at night to transport patients to Kumasi or Tamale.
“Some of them, after several hours, arrive in their villages sometimes at 2 a.m. or 3 a.m. to evacuate people who need urgent medical attention to Kumasi, and sometimes to Tamale,” he said.
To address the issue, the MP said he has already procured a fully fitted ambulance exclusively for Bolgatanga Central.
“As a result, I have procured a state-of-the-art fully fitted ambulance for the Bolgatanga Central constituency,” he announced.
Mr. Adongo added that the ambulance is already in the constituency and awaiting embossment.
“On our way here, I stopped over to look at the ambulance. It is already in the constituency. I only need to do the embossment and write to the Municipal Health Director to assign it exclusively to Bolgatanga Central to take care of our patients so that in emergencies we are able to respond at short notice,” he noted.
The MP said he will formally hand over the ambulance to the Municipal Health Director for exclusive use by residents of Bolgatanga Central once all processes are completed.
“So the ambulance, once the embossment and everything is done, I will have the occasion to go to the Municipal Health Director and hand it over for the exclusive use of the people of Bolgatanga Central constituency,” he said.
