Nadeng-Zein Academy has held a cultural celebration aimed at promoting Ghanaian traditions and teaching pupils to appreciate the country’s diverse ethnic heritage.
The event brought together students, teachers, parents, guardians and other stakeholders, with pupils showcasing the cultures of various ethnic groups through traditional music, dance, attire and indigenous food displays.
Speaking at the event, the school’s director, Issah Bukari Kolg, said cultural education is an important part of raising responsible citizens and future leaders.
“Culture is more than the clothes we wear, the food we eat or the way we interact. It reflects the identity, history and values of our people,” he said.
Mr. Kolg said exposing children to the traditions, languages and customs of different ethnic groups helps promote mutual respect, unity and national cohesion.
He noted that the academy deliberately creates opportunities for pupils from different backgrounds to learn about one another’s cultures as part of their education.
According to him, instilling cultural values in children from an early age prepares them to become responsible citizens capable of contributing to national development.
The celebration featured representations of several Ghanaian ethnic groups, including the Ga, Fante, Gonja, Ewe, Dagomba and Gurune communities.
School authorities encouraged parents and other stakeholders to continue supporting cultural activities that strengthen identity, preserve Ghana’s heritage and promote unity among young people.
