A leading New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator in the Upper East Region has cautioned against what he describes as politically motivated treatment of opposition figures, warning that governments must uphold the rule of law regardless of political differences.
Speaking on Day Break Upper East on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, with Humul Khrusum Tahiru, Moses Amoah, the NPP Navrongo Central Constituency Secretary and a member of the party’s Upper East Regional Communications Team, said the handling of the arrest of Dennis Miracle Aboagye, Director of Communications for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2028 presidential campaign team, should concern all Ghanaians.
“The NDC cannot be in power forever. They should treat people as fellow human beings and allow the law to work,” Mr. Amoah said.
He also criticised the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Raymond Archer, accusing him of unfair treatment of NPP members during investigations.
“The day the NDC leaves office, I don’t know where he will go because of the things he has done to NPP members. Nobody is going to forget about it, and nobody would have pity for him if the NPP comes to power. He doesn’t even listen. He appears to have no holes in his ears. It’s unfair,” he added.
Mr. Amoah alleged that recent investigations involving some NPP officials have been characterised by prolonged detention and stringent bail conditions.
He cited former National Service Secretariat official Gifty Oware, Abdul Hanan Abdul-Liba, and Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, as examples of individuals he believes were unfairly treated during investigations.
“Nobody has any problem if investigations are conducted within the law. What we oppose is punishment before guilt is established,” he said.
Mr. Amoah also criticised what he described as a GH¢50 million bail requirement reportedly imposed on Dennis Miracle Aboagye.
“Where do you expect someone to produce GH¢50 million and justifiable securities at night? It appears to be a way of keeping him in custody.”
