Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South and Deputy Minister for Education, has approved the release of GH¢331,000 from his Members of Parliament Common Fund allocation to support 248 brilliant but needy tertiary students in the constituency.

The financial assistance is intended to help students pursuing higher education in universities, technical universities, colleges of education, and nursing and midwifery training institutions across Ghana meet tuition and other academic expenses.

In a letter addressed to the Builsa South District Chief Executive, Dr. Apaak directed that the funds be released to the approved beneficiaries as part of his commitment to improving access to tertiary education.

According to the approval, the beneficiaries comprise 161 female students and 87 male students, reflecting efforts to promote access to higher education while advancing gender inclusion.

Of the total beneficiaries, 166 students enrolled in universities, technical universities, and other tertiary institutions will each receive GH¢1,500.

Another 82 students enrolled in colleges of education and nursing and midwifery training colleges will each receive GH¢1,000.

Dr. Apaak described the intervention as an investment in the future of the constituency, saying financial constraints should not prevent academically talented students from pursuing higher education.

He said the initiative forms part of the constituency’s broader strategy to expand access to quality tertiary education and strengthen human capital development in Builsa South.

The Deputy Minister expressed confidence that the financial support would enable beneficiaries to focus on their studies and successfully complete their academic programmes.

He also appealed to the District Chief Executive to facilitate the timely disbursement of the funds to ensure that beneficiaries receive the support without delay.

The educational support scheme forms part of the Builsa South lawmaker’s efforts to invest in youth development through education, which he has consistently identified as a key driver of sustainable community development.

Beneficiaries are expected to use the funds to cover tuition fees, accommodation, learning materials, and other academic-related expenses.
