A total of 248 brilliant but needy students from the Builsa South Constituency are set to benefit from a GH¢331,000 educational support package approved by the Member of Parliament for Builsa South and Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak.
The initiative, funded through the Member of Parliament’s Common Fund allocation, is intended to support deserving students pursuing tertiary and professional education across the country.
The beneficiaries include 161 female students and 87 male students, reflecting a significant investment in expanding access to higher education, particularly for young women.
In a letter addressed to the Builsa South District Chief Executive, Dr. Apaak directed that the approved amount be released to beneficiaries selected under the constituency’s Brilliant but Needy Scholarship Programme.
Under the package, 166 students enrolled in universities, technical universities, and other tertiary institutions will each receive GH¢1,500 to support their academic expenses.
Another 82 students studying in colleges of education and nursing and midwifery training colleges will each receive GH¢1,000.
Dr. Apaak said the intervention is intended to reduce the financial burden on students and their families while enabling beneficiaries to continue their education without unnecessary interruptions.
He emphasized that education remains one of the most effective tools for transforming lives and accelerating socio-economic development, adding that investing in young people is essential to building a skilled and productive workforce.
According to the Deputy Minister, the support programme forms part of the constituency’s long-term commitment to expanding access to quality tertiary education and developing the human capital needed to drive local and national development.
He appealed to the District Chief Executive to ensure the timely disbursement of the funds so beneficiaries can receive the support without delay.
The financial assistance is expected to help students pay tuition fees, purchase learning materials, and meet other education-related expenses that often hinder academic progress.
For many families in Builsa South, the intervention provides timely relief and underscores the importance of sustained investment in education as a pathway to reducing poverty and creating opportunities for future generations.
