Upper East Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, has declared his intention to contest the party’s Regional Secretary position when nominations open.

Mr. Salifu says his decision follows extensive consultations with party stakeholders and years of experience serving at the branch, constituency and regional levels of the NDC. He has been involved in the party’s structures for more than two decades, beginning as a Branch Executive at Tindonsoe in 2006.

His subsequent roles included Deputy Constituency Youth Organiser and Constituency Secretary for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, before becoming the Upper East Regional Communication Officer.

Declaring his intention to contest the position, Mr. Salifu said his years of service had equipped him with an understanding of the party’s structures and the demands of grassroots organisation.

He said leadership should be measured not only by the position one holds but by the ability to serve with integrity, understand the system and respond when the party needs effective leadership.

According to him, his experience across different levels of the party has given him a deeper appreciation of grassroots politics and what is required to strengthen party organisation in the region.

“This journey has given me more than experience. It has given me a deep understanding of our Party structures, a genuine appreciation of grassroots politics, and a clear understanding of what effective Party organisation requires.”

Mr. Salifu said the decision to seek the Regional Secretary position was taken after deep reflection and consultations with party stakeholders.

He is therefore appealing to government appointees, former appointees, Members of Parliament, party executives at all levels, party elders and grassroots members for their support and mandate.

He believes the party’s work in the region requires unity, experience, organisation and renewed energy. Mr Salifu said, if given the opportunity, he would work to consolidate the party’s gains, strengthen its structures and contribute to moving the Upper East NDC forward.

“The work ahead requires unity, experience, organisation and renewed energy.”
