The Upper East Region has once again missed out on the Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) crown after its representative, Keren Ayinboma Alayine, finished as third runner-up in the 2026 edition of the competition.

Ayinboma, who represented the region in the pageant’s 20th edition, secured 8.0 per cent of the total votes cast during the grand finale, placing fifth on the voting chart.

However, after contestants’ performances were combined with their voting results, she moved to fourth position overall, securing the third runner-up spot.

Her performance in the competition, despite the relatively low percentage of votes she received, has renewed discussions about the level of public support for contestants representing the Upper East Region.

Throughout the competition, Ayinboma demonstrated dedication and resilience, representing the region through various performances and activities.

Despite her efforts, she was unable to secure the ultimate crown, raising questions about the extent to which voting support influenced her final placement.

Her outcome follows that of Asakia Hawawu Hannan, who represented the Upper East Region in the 2025 edition but also fell short of winning the competition.

The results have prompted renewed conversations about the need for stronger public mobilisation and voting campaigns to support the region’s representatives in future editions.

Some social media users have argued that contestants from the Upper East Region deserve greater backing from residents, particularly when they demonstrate strong performances throughout the competition.

They believe more coordinated support from individuals, organisations and communities could help improve the region’s voting figures in subsequent editions.

While contestants’ performances contribute to their overall assessment, public voting remains an important component of the competition’s final results.

Ayinboma’s fourth-place finish has therefore brought renewed attention to the relationship between contestants’ performances and the voting support they receive.

The 2026 Ghana’s Most Beautiful competition, dubbed the Legacy Edition, was launched on August 2, 2026, and concluded with the grand finale at the National Theatre in Accra on October 18, 2026.
