A member of the National Democratic Congress’ Upper East region Communication team, John Paul Danka has said the New Patriotic Party’s intention to use funds from the Heritage fund to support the implementation of their flagship Free SHS policy is an indication that the party is bereft of ideas.

According to him, the NDC warned Ghanaians that the NPP has nothing good to offer but Ghanaians failed to listen adding that the move by the New Patriotic Party to use funds from the heritage fund is a sign from God to Ghanaians that the NPP lacks direction for the country.

“It is God that is revealing certain things to Ghanaians. We said it, that look the NPP government is bereft of ideas. As they are in government they don’t know where to go and what to do. See the contradictions in their early days in government. It is cheap and easier to throw tantrums when you are in opposition.”

He indicated that the NDC intends going to court should the majority use their numbers to amend provisions of the Heritage fund.

But a member of the Communication team of the New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region, Ahmed Karim Bediako on his part mentioned that NPP does not intend to depend solely on the Heritage fund like it is widely been reported.

“I am surprised that people are making general statements suggesting that the only source of funding for the free senior high school that the President and government want to do is solely the going to be the Heritage fund and some people are looking at the numbers that after six years how much money have been invested in the fund and how much is it going to cost.”

He indicated that feasibility studies carried out by the New Patriotic Party on the country’s strength of the country to implement the Free SHS policy have revealed that the country is on a strong footing to implement the policy to the latter.

He noted that there was wastage in the system in the past, especially under the erstwhile Mahama-led administration and if those loopholes are blocked, it will afford the country the opportunity to rake enough revenue to easily sustain the Free SHS policy.

“If you look at the economy of Ghana and the style of management of the NDC, there are too many loopholes that if taken care of, the government will be in the position to generate much revenue to be able to do that. We have mentioned so many areas that we think we could do better in terms of revenue generations and we say if such loopholes are blocked, then the government will be in the position to generate enough funds to sustain the Free SHS policy.”
