Upper East Regional Chairperson of the Ghana National Tailors and Dress Makers Association, Lawrencia Baba has called on the government to support dressmakers and tailors to help fight unemployment in the country.

She made this call at the graduation and passing out of 114 apprentices.

According to her, dress making has created employment for several Ghanaians who would have been liabilities to their families and the country even without the support of the government.

She noted that over the years, they have called on the government severally and although there have been assurances, the government has over the years neglected them.

Mrs Baba however, indicated that with the support of government, more individuals could be roped into the profession that has clothed several people over the years and that will help reduce the worrying number of unemployed youth in the country.

She noted that there is the perception that Dressmakers are not truthful people but she charged the apprentices passing out to work towards erasing the perception and to win the trust of people.
