The Member of Parliament for Tamale North constituency in the Northern region, Alhassan Suhuyini has said the nomination and subsequent announcement of the Independent Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu is just a “Propaganda masterstroke” to take away focus off the ongoing investigation into the “Presidential Seat for Sale” issue.
In a post on Facebook, the former broadcaster said “Propaganda masterstroke. Immediately after a repulsive Parliamentary PUBLIC hearing on “cash for seats or access” to the president by expatriate business owners. The President PUBLICLY announces Martin Amidu as Special Prosecutor to do a job, the AG has started doing and stated yesterday, was not waiting for the special prosecutor”.
He indicated that the move by the President diverts attention from the grim picture the Parliamentary Committee of enquiry painted of the presidency and Govt today.
He indicated that “Martin Amidu, a bitter founding member of the NDC will be responsible for unsuccessful-prosecutions and not Nana Addo’s NPP Govt”.
Martin Amidu was announced as Ghana’s First Independent Special Prosecutor by the President Akufo-Addo. His nomination has been hailed by many as the best decision and Ghanaians are optimistic that he will deliver his mandate without fear or favour.
