The Chairman of the People’s National Convention Bernard Mornah has given a strong indication the party’s 2012 flagbearer Mr. Hassan Ayariga will return to the fold of the PNC weeks after the obviously disgruntled former flagbearer hinted he was breaking away to found a new political party.

Mr. Hassan Ayariga fell out with the PNC following his defeat to Dr. Edward Mahama in the party’s congress where he claimed the election was rigged.

Mr. Ayariga’s decision to establish the All Peoples Congress (APC) was received with skepticism following an announcement by the electoral commission that it had not registered nor licensed any new political party in 2016 contrary to earlier reports that the APC had opened offices across the country.

But speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East show Monday, National Chairman of the PNC Bernard Mornah said there is no doubt that Mr. Hassan Ayariga would return to the PNC family. He disclosed that some people have been sent out to talk to Mr. Ayariga to rescind his decision.

“We are not worried that he (Ayariga) left because as one door closes, many more could be opened. I have insisted that Hassan Ayariga is going nowhere. No doubt about it that he will return. We have set out people that can talk to him,” Mr. Mornah said.

He further intimated that the party is currently concentrating on winning more votes and is touring the entire country to galvanize a new force to ensure they clinch victory in the November polls.

He said “even as we are having this challenge we are going round the country. We will do to an extent but we cannot compel people to come to the fold. There has been an extreme level of excitement that has greeted us in every corner of the country we have been to and that indicates that this party has come alive.”

Accompanied by the national and regional executives of the PNC, presidential candidate Mahama is in the upper east region on a “Thank You Tour.” They are expected to climax the tour on Monday with visits to Bolgatanga Central, Bongo, Bolgatanga East and Nabdam constituency after visiting Sandema and Bawku areas.
