Paramount Chief of the Talensi Traditional area, Tongraan Kugbilsong Nalebegtang has been elected to represent the Upper East region at the council of state.

The Council of State elections in the Upper East Region suffered some setback following a suit filed in court by the Presiding Member for the Nabdam District over the selection of two persons from the district to vote in the election. Voting commenced after several hours of a hold up after the issues were resolved.

The Chief known in private life as Robert Nachinab Mosore polled 11 votes out of 26 votes cast.

His closest contender, Philip Babachuweh polled 7 votes whiles others including Appiah Moses, Francis Apaam, Jacob Kofi Ayeebo polled 2, 0 and 6 respectively.

His election brings to an end the reign of Rev. Dr. Jacob Kofi Ayeebo who represented the upper east region at the council for two terms.
