The Member of Parliament for Nabdam Constituency, Dr, Mark Kurt Nawaane has advised the people of his constituency to avoid mob action and also killing if people out of perceptions.

His advise comes weeks after a mob in Pelungu killed a 67 year old woman who was alleged to be a witch.

According to him, it is difficult to prove or identify someone as a witch and it will be regrettable for people to be lynched just based on the perception of people about the said person.

“We are sad, we regret what has happened, we hope that it  never occurred and we have to manage the aftermath of this situation, so my heart is with Pelungu, Tindongo and Sakoti people and am saying that probably this should be the last time such a calamity should happen to them with this people,”

He made this call when he met the people of Pelungu to express his condolences to the family of an alleged witch who was lynched a forth night ago in the community. He asked his constituents to desist from taking the law into their own hands but rather depend on the Police and the needed channels to seek justice whenever there is an issue and underscored the need to take politics out of the issue.

He expressed confidence in the Police to bring to justice all individuals involved in the killing of Madam Atimppoka and therefore called on all residents of the community to undergo their daily activities without fear of being arrested.
