Some Miscreants Dragging My Name through the Mud – Daniel Gariba

District Chief Executive for Builsa South, Daniel Gariba has vehemently stated that “a few miscreants among them [customers of defunct ComAid Microfinance Company] who have an agenda just to make sure that Daniel Gariba’s name is run down.

According to the DCE, customers of the company until his appointment as DCE of Builsa South did not relent on all effort to prevent him from being appointed by the president.

“If the president had any cause to believe that my conduct and behavior is criminal he would not jeopardized his name by placing me in such a high position. Due diligence was conducted on me and it came to the conclusion that I did no wrong, it was normal business we were doing and like any other business that runs into challenges, ComAid is no exception.”

Mr. Gariba was speaking exclusively with A1radioonline.com in response to an allegation made against him to have defrauded customers of the microfinance company.

The angry customers after waiting for months to get their monies invested with ComAid microfinance, a company owned by the DCE during a press conference held in Bolgatanga accused the Builsa South DCE of defrauding them of millions of Ghana cedis.

The “defrauded customers” in their statement stated that the DCE’s company claimed it onward invested their monies with a Sunyani based microfinance company known as God is Love whose operations was suspended by the Bank of Ghana.

However, the angry customers of ComAid who described the conduct of the company led by Mr. Gariba as criminal queried “how was it possible that he could save in a company that was closed down by the Bank of Ghana?”

Denying flatly to the allegations, Mr. Gariba said his company had earlier invested with God is Love before the moratorium slapped on it by the Bank of Ghana. “The fact that God is Love stopped operations did not mean that ComAid also [should] stop operations [because] they are two different entities.”

According to him his company stopped operating since December 2016 but “the untruth in their [customers] submission is that these are customers who have been with us for over a year, so why would you be saying that you came only in May or after May? So if you keep doing business with us over this period and you only come at this period and you only come to the public to say that you only started doing business with us after May as if ComAid was just set off around that period to take advantage with them and run away, it is never true. That is what they will say to make the public sympathize with them.”

Efforts to reach the DCE and manager of his company according to the distressed customers concerning the fate of their investment proved futile. A situation they asserted the region may “record some suicide cases” due to pressures from their bankers and relatives.

But the DCE assured them of getting their monies “once the Sunyani High Court concludes on the pending matter, the Supreme Court will be notified and if the Bank is asked to pay us [ComAid], we will receive our portion of the money and customers will certainly be taken care of.”
