District Chief Executive of Kassena-Nankana district, Clement Kuyianyim Dandori has asserted that actions of some executives of the New Patriotic Party in the Chiana/Paga constituency contributed to his defeat in the parliamentary elections.

Mr. Dandori was the parliamentary candidate of the NPP during the 2016 elections but lost to the National Democratic Congress’ Rudolf Amenga-etego.

Some party supporters in a recent press conference blamed the constituency organizer, the youth organizer and deputy youth organizer for not only refusing to campaign for Mr. Dandori but were openly seen canvassing votes for their opponent.

Admittedly in an exclusive interview with A1 radio’s Joshua Asaah, the DCE stated he “actually talked to these people during the campaign about what I picked on the ground [but] whether they agreed with me or not it was left to them”.

According to him “it actually came out that they were not too active”, a behavior Mr. Dandori said was contrary to his expectation.

The DCE added that the three constituency executives, Mark Ayamga, Sylvester Atule and Thomas Kwalase refusal to heed to his plea and that contributed to his defeat.

“In one particular area the outcry was so much even though it was not our stronghold it affected the outcome. In another area where was always a victory for us in that particular polling station, I think the results confirmed that one of the gentlemen mentioned didn’t actually do any work for us. [So] we lost miserably in that place.”

These three executives are rumored to be considered for appointments into various government portfolios in the district. The NPP youth in the constituency during the press conference kicked against these individuals to be considered.

But Mr. Dandori who refuted claims that he had a hand in the recent press conference said he holds no grudges against them if they are appointed.

“In public service you cannot say you will not work with anybody. The person is appointed to play a role so I have no problem at all with anybody who is appointed”
