Upper East regional Director of the National Service Scheme, Paul Appiah Owusu has said the request for changes in Institutions and places where personnel have been posted to for National Service has affected the smooth registration process.

“The continuous request for change in places is affecting the smooth registration process. People come with their husbands, some come with their parents and some come with some head of department just to change their institutions and places and that is affecting our registration this year.”

He indicated that people, especially the indigenes (People of Upper East) rather come to the office of the National Service Secretariat to seek for changes to places where they are resident; something he says is hampering the smooth registration process the region has enjoyed over the years.

He called on Parents and Head of Departments who come to seek changes for their people to rather psyche them to sacrifice for the country because National Service is a sacrificial service to the country.

“People should note that National Service is all about sacrifice so if you are posted to any area for service, you have to go. People have come from the South to do service here but you see that people from this region rather seek for changes which is bad so if you can use your medium to advise people that National Service is a voluntary service and they need to go to places that they have been sent.”
