Bongo District to Begin an Exploration Process to Establish a Clay Factory

Plans to establish a clay factory as part of government’s initiative of establishing a factory each in all the districts of country are underway in the Bongo district of the upper east region.

The factory when established, would supply clay and make bricks which will go a long way to boost financial fortunes of the district.

District Chief Executive of Bongo, Peter Ayamga Ayinbisa, who revealed this, said the assembly is collaborating with Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) and University for Development Studies (USD) to conduct a survey on an exploration of clay in the district. According to him, the clay deposit in the district when explored, could feed the yet-to-be established factory for more than 42 years.

Mr. Ayinbisa who disclosed this during the Upper East region’s maiden town hall meeting believed the district’s natural resources such as mango and shea could be processed for export.

Bongo Town Hall Meeting

On government’s $1 million per each constituency, Mr. Ayinbisa stated the assembly has earmarked to utilize the monies in the construction and dredging of some major dams for a year round farming.

He added that “our intention and plan is to open up the district road network to facilitate the movement of persons, goods and services”

Upper East regional minister, Rockson Ayine Bukari on the occasion charged political leaders in the region to periodically give accounts of their achievements and challenges in order for the citizenry to continue repose their trust on them.

On the part of the citizenry Mr. Bukari admonished the public the need to honor tax obligations.
