Police administration embarks on transformation agenda

In order to create sanity as part of its reforms, the Ghana Police Service has urged the public to report its officers who misconduct themselves for disciplinary actions to be taken against them.

The service is therefore counting on the vigilance of the public to make sure that its officers deliver professional service to the public.

The public can report cases of police misconduct using pictures and videos through 0206639121 only on whatsapp for actions to be taken. Director-General of Public Affairs, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), David Eklu who is on a working visit to the Upper East region said the directive is in-line with the president’s purpose to fight corruption in the country which the police administration has also welcomed it with the IGP’s transformation agenda.

ACP Eklu therefore sends a strong warning to politicians to desist from intimidating police officers “thinking they will be able to use their political muscles to intimidate the police” and have their way “at the expense of the public” to desist from it because the service is fearless of any intimidation.

According to ACP Eklu, although the region records pockets of insecurity, it is one of the peaceful regions in the country.

He also commended the media in the region for supporting the police in the fight against crime and called for more collaboration to sustain gains made so far.

“I want to thank you very much for the support that you have given to the region in terms of policing. Your support has been very tremendous, your criticisms are noted and we don’t take them as personal attacks on the police service but we see them as a challenge to do better”
